Batter Fried Fish

Seafood! :-)  My husband is a big fan of fish and this recipe was created specially for him on a Sunday afternoon.

It is a simple fried fish recipe that uses a wonderful batter made using beer! Very similar to a fish and chips recipe but with a twist.

If you do not want to use beer then just use soda instead. I had beer at home and the taste is slightly better if you use beer.

Here is another one of Dhruv's favourite recipes...

Batter Fried Fish
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Serves 2-3

Ingredients

200 g Fish Fillet (cut into chunks)
2 tbs Lemon Juice
1/2 cup Flour
1/4 tsp Soda Bi Carb
1 tbs Corriander Mint and Green Chilly Chutney ( yes, really!)
50-75ml Cold Beer or Soda
4-5 Ice Cubes
1/2 tsp Chat Masala
Lemon Wedges
Salt and Pepper to taste
Oil for deep frying

Procedure

Apply lemon juice, salt and pepper to fish fishes and refrigerate while you prepare the batter.

Heat oil in a wok for deep frying.

In a large bowl mix together flour, soda bi carb, green chutney, salt and pepper.

Add beer and mix. Let the batter be lumpy. Adjust the quantity of beer to get a batter of pouring consistency.

Now add the ice cubes and stir.

Dip the fish in this batter and deep fry till it turns a lovely golden brown.

Sprinkle some lemon juice and chat masala and serve hot with lemon wedges.
